LOCATION:
Marquette, Michigan “Home of the US Olympic Education Center.” Three hours from Green Bay & the Mackinac Bridge, five hours from Milwaukee, WI & Duluth, MN.
SHORE RUN COURSE:
Beginning at Little Presque Isle, the half marathon course runs for 1.5 miles along Lake Superior beaches and then passes pristine Harlow Lake. From there it gently winds up 300’ of elevation to views of the Huron Mountain Range from the top of Bareback Ridge. The course then winds back down to Lake Superior for a 1.5 mile stretch of rugged running from Wetmore Landing back to the finish at Little Presque Isle. Four aid stations will be spaced evenly on the course. Some sections of the course are extreme.
RACE START:
Half Marathon at 10am, 10:05 5k Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009. Runners expected to take longer than 2 hours and 30 minutes are required to start at 9:30am; check-in is required.
1k Youth Run will start at 12:00pm
AGE DIVISIONS:
HALF MARATHON: Male & Female - 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
5K: Male & Female - 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
1K YOUTH RUN: 5 & under ,6-7, 8-9, 10-11,12-13 Participation awards for all!
NEW THIS YEAR - TEAMS!!
Create a team with five or more members - family, business, schools, churches, friends - whatever!
Team with the most members gets $100*. Team with the 5 fastest times get $100*!
(*$100 in cash or prizes valued at $100.). Just fill-in your Team name during the registration process.
AWARDS:
HALF MARATHON: Overall top 3 males & females will receive merchandise awards. 2 pair of trail running shoes,will be given away in a random drawing. Must be present to win.
5k: Merchandise to first place male & female, Keweenaw Jam given to age group winners.
NOTE: The elementary or middle school with the most participants in the 5k & 1k will receive special recognition.
