Dedicated Staff

Marion Batts

Marion is a critical part of our customer service team and also handles the social media for Race IT. She is responsible for growing and maintaining our relationships and communicating directly with our customers through phones, emails and social media platforms. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University and earned a B.S. in Mass Communications with a Public Relations concentration.

Marion is very artistic, and enjoys drawing, singing, dancing, and writing. She grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where she participated in ballet, modern, tap, and hip-hop dance. In her spare time she likes to write and record music, and give back to the community with her sorority. She found her way to Race IT in August 2013 and is excited about her future with the company.

Kate Callihan

Kate is responsible for managing our existing client accounts to ensure the event director’s needs are addressed. She is responsible for educating clients on platform features, assisting with advanced event setup, and is available to help our clients with any questions throughout the duration of their event. She holds a B.S. in Health Communications from James Madison University. When she’s not working, you can find Kate doing just about anything active; yoga, running, triathlons, you name it!

Robby Ciszek

Robert is responsible for addressing bugs in the platform as they appear and working on the RaceIt 2.0 platform. Robert comes to RaceIt after 5+ years working in web application development at Timmons Group. There he worked in development and design for a number of GIS applications ranging from parcel management to economic development. Robert has his BA from the school of engineering at VCU.

Tim Dunne

Tim joined the team in March 2013 as the General Manager to help grow and scale Race IT. Tim brings a customer focus and enterprise software experience from 25+ years in the telecommunications, digital media and analytic software industries. He has leadership experience in product management, marketing, sales, general management, IT, operations, strategy and business development. He was most recently the COO for Lavastorm Analytics, a global business analytics software company. Previously he led teams at Nextlink Wireless, RCN, Nextel, and Bell Atlantic/Verizon. He is an avid cyclist (both road and mountain bikes), loves water sports, and hiking/climbing in the mountains. Tim competed in several triathlons many years ago and regularly runs in 5k events with his kids. He is training for the Virginia Beach Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon and the Army Ten Miler races later this year.

Tony Falkenstein

Tony is responsible for testing the platform and new features that are updated/created by the development team. Prior to joining Race IT Tony worked as a Lead Designer and Information Architect for a government contractor developing systems for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tony holds a B.F.A. in Art Studio with a concentration in Graphic Design from George Mason University. Mountain biking, snowboarding and whitewater rafting are amongst the numerous outdoor activities Tony enjoys. When not spending time outside Tony loves spending time with his family and little one.

Charlie Hogue

Charlie is a Microsoft Certified Programmer (MCP) and has been working in the Information Technology field since 1984. He has been Programmer, System Architect, Lead Programmer, Database Architect, Team Leader, and Project Manager on various projects that employed multiple technologies (web development, SOA, client/server, relational databases, etc.)

Lewis Jones

Lewis is responsible for managing the financial activities for our client accounts to ensure transactions process and everyone gets paid. He is responsible for reporting and analytics, forecasting and enhancing the technical skills of our team. Prior to joining Race IT, Lewis performed strategic analytical work for colleges and universities and financial analytical work for a large Fortune 500 electronics chain. Lewis holds a B.A. in History and MBA. An outdoor enthusiast to the core and avid history buff, during his free time you can find Lewis hiking deep in the mountains, tracking grizzly bears or bungee jumping in his favorite location - the New River Gorge.

Tanya Kane

Tanya joined Race IT in May 2014 and is responsible for testing the platform and new features that are updated/created by the development team. Tanya got her start in IT by way of the U.S. Navy, where she served 6 years. Tanya holds a B.S. in Web Design & Development. Originally from San Diego, Tanya loves sand, sun and water. She and her young family spend as much time outdoors as possible. During the frigid winter months, Tanya dreams of hibernating, but instead enjoys family (including a dog, cat, fish & parrot) and friends inside. By the fire.

Whitney Kailos

Whitney is responsible for managing our existing client accounts to ensure the event director’s needs are addressed.  She is responsible for educating clients on platform features, assisting with advanced event setup, and is available to help our clients with any questions throughout the duration of their event.  Prior to joining Race IT, Whitney participated in an internship program with a large public school system where she helped to implement health and wellness throughout the student body.

Whitney holds a B.A. in Psychology from Christopher Newport University. A runner to the core, Whitney’s commitment and dedication to the industry was evident from the first day she joined Race IT, in crutches from an injury training for what would have been her second marathon.  She has participated in numerous 5K’s and half marathons, but will have to wait a while and heal before tackling longer distances.  Whitney worships the water and warm climate but during the colder seasons can usually be found in the gym (frequently), reading, or spending time with family and pets.

Melissa Mitchell

Melissa is an Account Manager at Race IT, working directly with clients to ensure that all client needs are addressed. She is responsible for setting up events, educating clients on platform functionality and features and answering any questions that race directors may have through the duration of their registration. She previously led the Customer Service team here at Race IT. Melissa graduated in 2011 with a B.S. in Communications- Public Relations from Wingate University in Wingate, NC.

Melissa grew up a swimmer and having never run before, she was challenged by a friend to compete in her first 5K race in March 2013 and has entered more races since. She is even planning to compete in her first half-marathon and triathlon in the near future! As a self-proclaimed beach bum, Melissa would spend every day lying outside in the sun if she could. She frequently attends various sporting events in Richmond, including baseball, football and University of Richmond basketball games.

Travis Miller

Travis joined Race IT in September 2015 as a Junior Web Developer, and is responsible for bug fixes. He is a graduate of George Mason University with a degree in IT and Multimedia Web Development. Travis loves to play soccer (he's a DC United season ticket holder!), and has been skateboarding since he was 12. Travis is new to the Richmond area, and his favorite thing so far is to hang out on the James River.

Eric Mugol

Eric joined Race IT in March of 2015. With over 17 years of experience in Sales, he oversees Race IT's partner relationships within the Central US Region, and is focused on driving revenue growth as well as identifying business opportunities. Prior to joining Race IT, Eric worked for Active Network. Here, he worked on growing the business as a Senior Account Executive and Strategic Account Manager, but also showed his technical side by filling in as a TSE (Technical Sales Engineer) and Implementation Analyst when needed. His ability to solve for business challenges using technology quickly earned him a spot as a top contributor and trusted advisor amongst his colleagues. Eric holds a B.S. in Business Management and is currently working on his MBA. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids as well as playing tennis, basketball, cycling, snowboarding, running, and flying UAV's.

Edward Nixon

Ed is a new member our customer service team and we are very excited to have him. He is responsible for growing and maintaining our relationships and communicating directly with our customers through phones, emails and social media platforms. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University and earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice. Ed is very into sports, music and all forms of art. He is originally from St. Petersburg, Fl and moved to Richmond, VA to attend VCU. Ed loves to play basketball, writing poetry and read. He found his way to Race IT in June 2014 and is enthusiastic about his future with the company.

Chris Schmidt

Chris joined Race IT in August of 2012. Chris brings 7+ years of software sales experience with a focus on Software as a service (SaaS) and over 20+ years of sales and client relationship development covering numerous industries to include, human resources and staffing, real estate development and social media. Chris’s main responsibility with Race IT is business development, platform education, customer relationships and implementation support. It doesn’t get much better than selling your passion. Chris is an avid long distance runner, focusing on marathons and half marathons. When not running, Chris loves spending time with his wife and two kids, traveling to the beach, following their many sporting events and coaching his son’s baseball team.

Brooke Smith

Brooke Smith joined the Race IT team as a Junior Web Designer in April of 2015. Brooke assists our Senior Web Designer in developing and maintaining the design of our platform, as well as customizing registration templates to fit our clients’ brands. She graduated from Old Dominion University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Originally from Northern Virginia, Brooke is new to Richmond and is excited to see what the city has to offer. Brooke enjoys staying active by teaching spin and group fitness classes, as well as practicing yoga. She is also a 5 time competitor in the World Toe Wrestling Championship, where she took third place in 2012. When Brooke is not in the gym or at the office, she also enjoys traveling, painting DIY projects, cooking, attending concerts and lots and lots of dancing.

Darren Wamboldt

As the Manager of Visual Design, Darren Wamboldt leads the design and usability of our registration platform as well as design for our race websites. Darren brings over 12 years of interactive design experience and has worked on a wide variety of projects, including government, healthcare, editorial, and small businesses. Prior to joining the Race IT team, Darren worked as an interactive designer for an advertising agency. Some of his recent work includes sites for the George W. Bush Presidential Center, American magazine, National Audubon Society and Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Originally from South Dakota, Darren grew up camping and hiking in the Black Hills and also spent time working in Seattle and Phoenix before moving to the East Coast. With degrees in commercial photography and visual design, in his free time he can often be found sketching or snapping pictures or working as a freelance designer. He’s also and avid Masters swimmer and enjoys competing in local swim meets.
